Sea Claims
Our global transportation team specializes in all aspects of marine recovery, including containerized cargo, bulk shipments, reefer cargo, general average claims, as well as demurrage and hire disputes.
With maritime claims accounting for over 75% of our workload, we have built strong relationships with carriers and their P&I Clubs. This network allows us to resolve and settle claims amicably wherever possible, avoiding lengthy and costly legal proceedings.
Our team primarily consists of experienced marine pre-litigation recovery agents, enabling us to provide comprehensive recovery solutions throughout sea haulage and port terminal operations.
Combining in-depth knowledge of international transport regulations and cargo handling conditions with local legal support from our network of lawyers, we consistently deliver positive recovery outcomes for our clients over time.
Our expertise across different jurisdictions allows us to offer valuable insights into the likelihood of successful recovery, helping clients make informed decisions.
Regardless of the cause of damage to your cargo, Oceanix Recovery Ltd works to minimize your losses. When recovery is not possible, we provide timely advice so you can close your accounts without unnecessary delays.
We tailor our cargo recovery services to meet the unique needs of each client, ensuring the most effective collaboration among all parties involved in the dispute.
We handle a wide range of sea claims, including:
Reefer cargo
- Containerized cargo
- Bulk cargo
- Transit delays
- Short shipments
- Cargo leakage
- Improper handling
- Wet damage
- Contamination
- Shortages
To prevent claims from becoming time-barred, we proactively seek extensions of time limits when necessary.
Our services operate on a No Cure, No Pay basis. For complex cases requiring legal intervention, we coordinate with appointed Attorneys after consulting with our clients; legal fees will be billed separately.
Additionally, in cases involving general average claims, Oceanix Recovery Ltd assists cargo owners in obtaining guarantees from P&I Clubs, even while vessels are still discharging at port, to facilitate smooth claim handling.

Land Claims
Land claims continue to present significant challenges across Africa, with a large proportion of unsuccessful recoveries resulting from Goods in Transit (GIT) claims. As specialists in cargo claims, we bring the technical expertise needed to support you throughout the entire logistics chain, covering air, road, rail, and warehousing.
Our team is highly trained in contract law, giving you a strong advantage when facing disputes involving carriers’ standard terms and conditions. Supported by our international network of lawyers, we can respond rapidly and provide assistance whenever and wherever it’s needed—24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
We handle a comprehensive range of land claims, including:
- Warehouse fires and theft
- Goods in Transit (GIT) claims
- Hijacking cases
Our proven success in this sector is your assurance of effective results. When a claim is paid out and there is evidence of third-party negligence or liability, we drive successful recourse actions to recover these costs. This approach supports competitive premiums for our clients and fosters enduring partnerships with insurers, who benefit from our ability to recover on paid claims.

Air Claims
Under the terms of the airway bill, the time limit to initiate legal action against the carrier expires two years from the date the goods are discharged. To protect your rights and prevent any time bar on claims, it is our responsibility to take timely legal action by issuing proceedings in the appropriate court if delays occur prior to settlement.
We manage extensive air transit recovery operations worldwide, supported by a dedicated team of recovery case handlers. In several cases, we have successfully secured recoveries that exceed the liability limits established by international air transport conventions.
Our claims handlers are well-versed in the two primary international conventions governing the carriage of goods by air the Warsaw Convention (1929) and the Montreal Convention (1999) including their additional protocols. They are skilled at identifying the most advantageous jurisdictions, which enables us to achieve better recovery outcomes, even in cases where cargo weight limitations would otherwise restrict compensation.
For clients facing challenges such as increasing legislative complexity, high claim volumes, or the need to augment internal capacity, Oceanix offers tailored outsourcing services to handle your claims efficiently. Throughout the process, we maintain full control of each case to manage your expectations and ensure the best possible results.
